Buttermilk and Starlight

Past the point of love
Shattered and untied
Waiting to pick up the pieces
That make it all alright

surrealism:

Cäsar (Cesar) by Peer Kriesel, 2010. Drawing/Ink on Paper, 30 x 21 cm.

From Peer’s email to me:

There is hope, joy, anger, fear, every feeling you can not hide in the real world. The only hiding-place is a unconscious code, here single hands, sometimes with to many fingers, birds, the fish, trees with just a few leaves, the lighthouse or the numer “5”… and some other “signs” which appear again and again.

On Elton John’s birthday, Marc Bolan sent him a life size cardboard cut out of himself with the words “Happy birthday Elton, Love Marc” emblazoned across the front. Marc thought this was amazingly funny until his own birthday when a huge removal van arrived carrying a 32 foot high cardboard cut-out of Elton, with the words “Happy Birthday Marc, thanks for your little card, Love Elton.

Left her poor, Irish family to marry a pirate. Left that guy to marry a pirate captain. Had a baby but gave it up to stay a pirate. Fought bravely as part of a crew with her friend (and lesbian lover?) Mary Read against the British Navy. Eventually they were defeated but both women avoided hanging by claiming to be pregnant. (Anne Bonny)

Damn this woman is amazing!

Where closing times are concerned, however, everything continues to run according to schedule. Germans are particularly strict about their Mittagspause (lunchtime) and Feierabend (knocking-off time), so don’t even try to start a complicated transaction just before midday or at the end of play.

On the other hand, many bars don’t have a closing time. With relaxed licensing laws, many simply display signs saying they will stay open “bis zum Ende” on a Friday and Saturday night.
- A Der Spiegel article (translated in the Guardian) on the strictness of German culture that’s been slipping recently. You guys, “bis zum Ende” means “until the end of time.” I think I found my next homebase.  (via chels)

Love Germany.

T. Rex - Get It On (1971)

T Rex will always make me think of Jess. So beating me with a hardcover edition of The Collected Works of Oscar Wilde because I did not know who Marc Bolan was worked. Well done.

I got this on my birthday, it’s two months old. Done at Self-Inflicted studios in STL.  I’ve always loved this painting and I knew I needed it on my skin. I guess you could say it’s the first of my Art Appreciation tattoos. I absolutely love it.

Amazing
